Playdead

Playdead is a Danish independent video game developer and publisher headquartered in Copenhagen. Established in 2006 by game designer Arnt Jensen, the company gained international recognition with the release of ‘Limbo’ in 2010, a monochromatic puzzle-platformer that received widespread critical acclaim. Building on this success, Playdead released ‘Inside’ in 2016, another atmospheric platformer that was hailed as a worthy successor to ‘Limbo’. Both titles are celebrated for their unique art styles, immersive storytelling, and engaging gameplay mechanics. As of 2025, Playdead employs over 100 creative professionals and is actively working on a new project, described as a ‘fairly lonely sci-fi game somewhere in the universe’.
