Founded in 1999, Yager Development is a German video game developer headquartered in Berlin. The studio gained international recognition with ‘Spec Ops: The Line’ (2012), a third-person shooter acclaimed for its mature narrative exploring the horrors of war. In 2021, Tencent acquired a majority stake in Yager, providing significant investment to support the studio’s development and publishing activities while allowing it to maintain operational independence. Currently, Yager employs over 130 international staff and is involved in co-development projects like ‘Dune: Awakening’ with Funcom and ‘Exoborne’ with Sharkmob, both leveraging the Unreal Engine. In 2024, celebrating its 25th anniversary, Yager launched the ‘Pitch Archives’ series, offering insights into the company’s unreleased game concepts and prototypes.
